About Dawn

Dawn was raised in rural northeastern Pennsylvania, which she happily left to attend college at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. She received a BFA in Fine Arts in 1992, having majored in Fine Arts - Printmaking and minored in the History of Art. Feeling a bit jaded and world-weary with New York City, she relocated to southern California. She continued to drawing, painting, and photographing. Her "real job" eventually brought her to Chicago, where she stopped creating artwork and started creating a family. She has lived in northwest Indiana for nearly a dozen years with her husband and two sons.

Three years ago, she began creating artwork again which she fully credits with keeping her nearly sane. Her artwork often revolves around memories both good and bad. Most recently her paintings are about trying to find a happy place to be in mentally, in relation to being a caregiver for a disabled child. To this end, her figurative abstract pieces are taking on a landscape feel. Her most recent series is titled Safety, with a sub-series America.  Her work can be seen regularly at Paul Henry's Art Gallery in  Hammond, Indiana.
